Airports can be a tiring experience for kids and frazzle the adults too but some relief may be available at London’s Heathrow Airport this October half term.
The airport has teamed up with the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre in Buckinghamshire, Puffin Books and the Royal Shakespeare Company, whose production of Matilda the Musical is currently playing in London’s West End and on Broadway.
At all five of the airport’s terminals, there will be:
- Roald Dahl Mischief and Mayhem storytelling and craft sessions for children
- Puffin Books’ Roald Dahl ‘bags of tricks’ activity sheets in restaurants to keep kids busy and entertained during meal time
- The chance to take a unique holiday snap with a Matilda in a photo frame.
Four restaurants at the airport are also introducing special Dahl-themed dishes, including fresh Mudburgers, Swashboggling sausage and mash and Squiggly spaghetti. The participating restaurants are Est Café in Terminal 1, Oriel and Rhubarb in Terminal 3, Dining Street in Terminal 4 and Huxleys in Terminal 5.
Claire Field, Acting Director of the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre, said: “‘We are absolutely thrilled to be taking some of the Roald Dahl magic to Heathrow this half-term. Roald Dahl famously wrote ‘watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.’ This half-term, there will be Roald Dahl secrets and fun to be discovered in each and every terminal so keep your eyes peeled at all times.”
Heathrow is also running a competition to win a family set of tickets to see Matilda The Musical, one night’s accommodation at a 4 star hotel in London for two adults and two children and a complete set of Roald Dahl’s books for children.
